I got a call out of the blue.

​“Hi Jayden, this is South Magazine. We’re looking for someone to photograph an ostrich palace for an upcoming feature. You in?”

I didn’t even think. “Absolutely.”

A few days later, I found myself balancing on a wire fence, my dad bracing my legs because I was too short to see over the tall plants. I’d hardly photographed architecture before, so every angle, shadow, and frame felt like a new puzzle.

We toured working ostrich farms, stepped into a preserved historic ostrich palace, and wandered through an incubator buzzing with the sound of life about to hatch. It was dusty, loud, unpredictable - and one of the most fun assignments I’ve had. Can’t wait for the next adventure.
