The backstory and deeper meaning:
To capture this, we crossed eight riverbeds, then ditched our car for my grandad’s WWII Jeep to tackle a rocky mountain at midnight, on perihelion - the day when Earth is annually closest to the sun. I used an unconventional lighting technique called FDL - a challenging, but unique method that only a handful of photographers know about - and even fewer can execute.

After four hours of stumbling through the dark, dodging rain spiders, and hauling expensive gear, I finally got the shot at 2 a.m. After seeing my camera screen under the canvas of stars above me, I realized that it was worth every second.

This image is more than just an adventure - it’s a message. What began as a fun shoot became a paid project used to teach hundreds about humility. It’s a reminder that, next to God’s vast glory, even our greatest efforts are like a torch against the Milky Way - a call to stay humble and honor Him. It also represents passion and perseverance. Capturing it involved challenges, exhaustion, and trial-and-error - now it inspires others to chase their purpose with the same relentless drive.

Here’s the atmosphere it creates:

Here’s the deal:

So, what’s the investment? In 2024, a banana duct-taped to a wall sold for $6.2M (R118M) - with no meaning or visual appeal. Milky Way Marvel has both - and it’s just $2000 (R35 000).

But, South Africans get local price thanks to lower production & rates, bringing it down to just R19 000. Moreover, if you prepay via EFT, I’ll discount an additional R2 000 off, bringing the final SA investment down to just R17 000.
